English First Additional Language - Term 1 - Week 4

Today, we will learn about different animals and the sounds they make. Animals are all around us, and each one has a unique sound. For example, a cow goes 'moo', a dog goes 'bark', and a cat goes 'meow'. Let's think about some of our favorite animals and what sounds they make!

I will show you pictures of different animals. When I show you a picture of a dog, I want you to say 'bark' loudly! If I show you a picture of a sheep, you will say 'baa'. Let's practice together! (Show pictures of a dog, cat, cow, sheep, and duck, encouraging students to mimic the sounds.)

Now, we will play a matching game. I will say the name of an animal, and you will have to make the sound. For example, if I say 'cat', you will say 'meow'. Let's do this together! After we practice, I will call on some of you to show me how well you can make the sounds. Remember to listen carefully and have fun!

For your independent activity, you will create a mini animal sound book. You will draw your favorite animal on one page and write the sound it makes on the next page. For example, if you draw a lion, you will write 'roar'. Once you finish your book, you can share it with your classmates and show them your drawings and sounds!
