Today, we will talk about feelings. Feelings are what we experience inside us. Sometimes we feel happy, sad, angry, or scared. It is important to know our feelings and to talk about them. We will read a story about a character who experiences different emotions and discuss how they felt in each situation.
Let's read 'The Color Monster' together. As we read, I will show you pictures of the Color Monster and the different colors that represent his feelings. For example, yellow is for happiness, blue is for sadness, and red is for anger. After each page, we will pause and talk about how the Color Monster feels and why. This will help us understand our own feelings better.
Now, let's create a feelings chart together. I will draw a big face on the board and we will label it with different emotions. I will ask you to think of a time when you felt one of these emotions. For example, when did you feel happy? You can raise your hand and share your experience. We will write your answers next to the corresponding emotion on the chart.
For your independent practice, I want you to draw a picture of yourself showing a feeling. You can choose any feeling we talked about today. Once you finish your drawing, write one or two words about why you feel that way. Afterward, we will have a sharing session where you can show your drawings to the class and explain your feelings.
