Action words, also known as verbs, are words that describe what someone or something does. For example, 'run', 'jump', and 'play' are all action words. Today, we will learn how to recognize these words and use them in sentences. We will also act out some of these actions to make learning fun!

Let's look at some examples together. If I say, 'The dog runs,' 'runs' is the action word. It tells us what the dog is doing. Now, if I say, 'I jump,' 'jump' is the action word. Can you think of other sentences with action words? For instance, 'The cat sleeps' or 'We dance.' Let's practice saying these sentences together.

Now, I will call out an action word, and I want you to act it out! For example, if I say 'clap,' everyone should clap their hands. After we act out the word, we will say a sentence using that action word. For instance, 'I clap my hands.' Let's do this with several action words like 'jump', 'run', and 'dance'.

For your independent practice, I want you to draw a picture of yourself doing an action. It could be anything like 'running', 'swimming', or 'playing'. After you finish your drawing, write a sentence about your picture using an action word. For example, 'I am running fast.' This will help you connect the action words with your own experiences.
