Today, we will learn about sounds that letters make. Each letter has its own sound, and when we put these sounds together, we can form words. For example, the letter 'b' makes a sound like 'buh', and the letter 'a' makes a sound like 'ah'. When we say 'bat', we hear the 'b' sound first, followed by the 'a' and 't' sounds.

Let’s take the word 'cat'. First, we say the sounds: 'c', 'a', 't'. Now, let’s blend them together. When we say them quickly, we hear 'cat'. This is how we can create words by blending sounds. Let's try another example with the word 'dog'. What sounds do we hear? That's right! 'd', 'o', 'g'. Now, let’s blend them: 'dog'!

I will say a word, and you will tell me what sound you hear at the beginning. For example, if I say 'sun', what sound do you hear first? Yes, 's'! Now let’s try some more words together. I will say 'fish', and you will respond with the initial sound. Great job! Keep listening for those sounds!

Now it’s your turn! I have some pictures of objects. Look at each picture and say the name of the object. Then, write down the initial sound you hear. For example, if you see a picture of a 'ball', you would write 'b'. After you finish, we will share our sounds with the class!
