Today, we will learn about rhymes! Rhyming words are words that sound the same at the end. For example, 'cat' and 'hat' rhyme because they both end with the 'at' sound. Rhymes are fun and help us play with sounds in language. Let's listen to some examples together and see if we can find more rhyming words!

Let's look at some pictures together. I will show you a picture of a 'dog'. Can anyone think of a word that rhymes with 'dog'? Yes, 'frog'! Now, let's try another one. Here is a picture of a 'sun'. What rhymes with 'sun'? Great job, 'run'! We can see how these words sound alike at the end.

Now, let's play a rhyming word game! I will say a word, and you will clap your hands if you can think of a word that rhymes with it. For example, if I say 'ball', you might clap for 'mall' or 'call'. Let’s try with the words 'tree', 'car', and 'light'. Remember to listen carefully and think of words that sound similar!

For our independent practice, I want you to draw a picture of an animal or object. Once you have your picture, write down one or two words that rhyme with it. For example, if you draw a 'cat', you could write 'hat' and 'bat'. After you finish, we will share our drawings and rhymes with the class!
