Today, we will learn about the sounds that letters make. Each letter of the alphabet has a unique sound. For example, the letter 'A' sounds like 'ah' and the letter 'B' sounds like 'buh'. We will practice saying these sounds together and learn how they help us form words.
Let’s take the letter 'C'. The sound it makes is 'kuh'. Now, let’s think of some words that start with 'C'. Can anyone think of a word? Yes! 'Cat' starts with 'C'. Let’s clap our hands for each sound in 'cat': /k/ - /a/ - /t/. Great job!
Now, we will work in small groups. Each group will receive a set of flashcards with different letters. I will call out a sound, and your group will find the letter that matches that sound. Once you find it, hold it up high! Let’s see which group can find the most letters correctly.
