Today, we will learn about the different places and people that make up our community. A community is where we live, play, and learn. It includes schools, shops, parks, and homes. We will also talk about the people who help us, like teachers, doctors, and shopkeepers. Understanding our community helps us appreciate the roles everyone plays in making it a better place.
Let’s look at some pictures of places in our community. For example, this is a 'isikole' (school), where we learn. This is a 'ivenkile' (shop), where we buy food and other things. When we see these places, we can say, 'Ngiyathanda isikole' (I love the school) or 'Ngiyathanda ivenkile' (I love the shop). Let’s practice saying these sentences together.
In groups, let’s discuss who helps us in our community. Each group will choose one community helper, like a 'udokotela' (doctor) or 'umfundisi' (teacher), and share what they do. For example, 'Udokotela usiza abantu' (The doctor helps people). After discussing, each group will present their helper to the class.
Now, it’s your turn! Draw your favorite place in the community and write a sentence about it in isiNdebele. For example, if you draw a park, you can write, 'Ngiyathanda ipaki' (I love the park). Make sure to use bright colors and be creative! Once you finish, we will share our drawings with the class.
