Today, we will learn about different animals and how to say their names in isiXhosa. We will look at pictures of animals and listen to the sounds they make. This will help us remember their names better. For example, 'inja' means dog, and it goes 'bark'. Let's start by looking at some pictures!

Let’s look at some examples together. If I show you a picture of a cat, I will say 'ikati' and then we will all make the sound a cat makes, which is 'meow'. We can repeat this for other animals like 'ibhubesi' (lion) and 'ingulube' (pig). This repetition helps us remember the words.

Now, I will show you a series of animal pictures. When I show you a picture, I want you to shout out the name in isiXhosa and then make the sound that animal makes. For example, if I show you a picture of a cow, you will say 'inkomo' and then say 'moo'. Let’s do this together as a class!

For your independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal. Once you finish your drawing, write the name of the animal in isiXhosa next to it. You can also write down the sound it makes. After you are done, we will share our drawings with the class and practice saying the names together.
