Greetings are the first words we say to someone when we meet them. In isiXhosa, greetings are very important as they show respect and kindness. Today, we will learn how to say 'Hello' and 'How are you?' in isiXhosa. The word for 'Hello' is 'Molo' when speaking to one person, and 'Molweni' when speaking to more than one person. To ask 'How are you?' we say 'Unjani?' for one person and 'Ninjani?' for more than one person.
Let’s practice some greetings together. If I say 'Molo', you can respond with 'Ndiyaphila' which means 'I am fine'. If I say 'Molweni', you can respond with 'Siyaphila'. Let’s try this in pairs.
