Today, we will learn about different places in our community. These places include 'isibhedlela' (hospital), 'isikole' (school), 'ibhanki' (bank), 'umthombo' (well), and 'indawo yokudlela' (restaurant). Each place has a special role in our lives. For example, the hospital helps us when we are sick, and the school is where we learn new things.
Let’s look at some pictures of places in our community. (Show images of a hospital, school, bank, well, and restaurant.) Can anyone tell me what this place is? (Point to the hospital image.) Yes, it is 'isibhedlela'. Now, let’s say together: 'Isibhedlela sisiseko sokuphila' (The hospital is a place for health).
Now, let’s practice making sentences. I will say a place, and you will help me make a sentence. For example, if I say 'isikole', you can say, 'Isikole sisiseko sokufunda' (The school is a place for learning). Let’s try another one: 'ibhanki'. What sentence can we make? (Encourage responses from learners.)
Now it’s your turn! Draw your favorite place in the community. Under your drawing, write a sentence about it in isiXhosa. For example, if you draw a restaurant, you can write, 'Indawo yokudlela inika ukudla okumnandi' (The restaurant provides delicious food).
