Today, we will learn about different animals and the sounds they make in isiXhosa. We will look at pictures of animals and practice saying their names. This will help us to understand and use isiXhosa vocabulary related to animals.

Let’s look at some examples together. When I say 'ihagu', what animal am I talking about? Yes, it’s a pig! And what sound does a pig make? That’s right, it goes 'oink'. Now, let’s practice saying 'ihagu' and 'oink' together. We can also use actions to mimic the sounds and movements of the animals, making it fun and engaging.

Now, let’s work in groups. Each group will receive a set of animal pictures. I want you to discuss the names of the animals in isiXhosa and the sounds they make. After a few minutes, each group will share one animal with the class. Remember to use the correct isiXhosa words and the sounds. This will help us learn from each other and practice speaking.

For independent practice, I have prepared a worksheet with pictures of animals and their names in isiXhosa. Your task is to match the animal with the correct sound.
