Today, we will learn about the people in our community who help us. These are called 'abantu abancedisayo' in isiXhosa. Examples include 'ugqirha' (doctor), 'umphakathi' (teacher), and 'umlawuli' (police officer). We will discuss what each of these helpers does and how they support us in our daily lives.
Let's look at some pictures of community helpers. For example, here is a picture of a doctor. We can say, 'Umgqirha unceda abantu ukuba baphile.' (The doctor helps people to be healthy.) Now, let’s look at a teacher. We can say, 'Uthisha ufundisa abafundi.' (The teacher teaches students.)
In groups, choose a community helper and act out what they do. For instance, one child can pretend to be a doctor checking a patient, while another can be the patient. Use isiXhosa phrases to describe what you are doing. After each group performs, we will discuss what we learned about each helper.
