Today, we will learn about the different places in our community, such as 'isikolo' (school), 'ibhanki' (bank), and 'umthombo' (well). We will also talk about the people who work in these places, like 'utitshala' (teacher) and 'ugqirha' (doctor). Understanding these words helps us describe our surroundings and the important roles people play in our lives.

Let’s look at some pictures of community places. For example, here is a picture of a school. What do we call it in isiXhosa? Yes, it’s 'isikolo'. Now, who works at the school? That’s right, a teacher, or 'utitshala'. Let’s practice saying these words together: 'isikolo' and 'utitshala'.

In groups, let’s create a community map. Each group will draw a place from our community and label it in isiXhosa. For example, if your group chooses the bank, write 'ibhanki' next to your drawing. Then, each group will present their map to the class, explaining what each place is and who works there.

Now it’s your turn to write! On your own, write a few sentences about your favorite place in the community. Use isiXhosa words we learned today. For example, you might write, 'Ndithanda isikolo, utitshala uyandifundisa.' (I love the school, the teacher teaches me.) Remember to draw a picture of your favorite place too!
