Today, we will learn about the different places and people in our community. We will focus on words like 'isibhedlele' (hospital), 'isikolo' (school), and 'ibhanki' (bank). Understanding these words will help us talk about our surroundings and the important roles people play in our lives.
Let’s look at some pictures of places in our community. For example, when I show you a picture of a school, you will say 'isikolo'. If I show you a picture of a shop, you will say 'ivenkile'. Let’s practice saying these words together, and I will ask you to point to the correct picture when I say the word.
Now, let’s do a fun activity! I will divide you into groups. Each group will choose a community helper, like a teacher, doctor, or police officer. You will create a short dialogue where you introduce your helper and explain what they do. For example, 'Lo nguDokotani, umncedisi wethu' (This is Doctor, our helper). After practicing, each group will present their dialogue to the class.
For your independent work, I want you to draw your favorite place in the community. Below your drawing, write a sentence describing it in isiXhosa. For example, if you draw a park, you could write 'Le ndawo yipaki' (This place is a park). Once you finish, we will share our drawings with the class.
