Today, we will learn about the people in our community who help us. These are called community helpers. In isiXhosa, we will learn words like 'umlamli' (teacher), 'ugqirha' (doctor), and 'umphakathi' (community). Understanding who these helpers are and what they do is important for us to appreciate their roles.

Let’s look at some pictures of community helpers. For example, here is a picture of a 'umlamli' (teacher). What does a teacher do? They help us learn. Now, let’s look at a 'ugqirha' (doctor). A doctor helps us when we are sick. Can anyone tell me another community helper?

In groups, let’s role-play different community helpers. One person can be a 'umlamli' (teacher), another a 'ugqirha' (doctor), and so on. Each group will take turns to act out their helper and say one sentence about what they do. For example, the teacher might say, 'Ndifundisa abafundi' (I teach students).

Now, I want each of you to draw your favorite community helper. After you finish your drawing, write one sentence in isiXhosa about what they do. For example, if you draw a 'umlamli', you could write, 'Umphakathi ufundisa.' (The teacher teaches.)
