Today, we will learn about different animals and the sounds they make in isiZulu. We will look at pictures of animals and say their names together. For example, 'inja' means dog, and 'ikati' means cat. We will also listen to the sounds these animals make, such as 'bark' for a dog and 'meow' for a cat.
Let’s practice with some examples. When I say 'ibhubesi', what animal am I talking about? Yes, it's a lion! And what sound does a lion make? Correct, it roars! Now, let’s try another one. 'Uhlanga' means frog. What sound does a frog make? Yes, it goes 'ribbit'.
Now, I will show you some pictures of animals. I want you to tell me the name of the animal in isiZulu and the sound it makes. For example, if I show you a picture of a cow, you will say 'inkomo' and then make the sound 'moo'. Let’s do this together with a few more animals.
For your independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal and write its name in isiZulu. Next to the drawing, write the sound that the animal makes. Once you finish, you can share your drawing with the class and tell us about your animal.
