Today, we will learn about different animals and the sounds they make. Animals are all around us, and each one has a special name in isiZulu. For example, a dog is called 'inja' and it barks, which is 'ukukhala'. We will look at pictures of animals and practice saying their names together.
Let’s look at some examples. The cow is called 'inkomo' and it makes a sound 'ukukhala' which is similar to 'moo'. The cat is 'ikati' and it says 'mew' or 'ukukhala'. We will repeat these names and sounds together to help us remember them.
Now, let’s play a game! I will show you a picture of an animal, and you will tell me its name in isiZulu and the sound it makes. For example, if I show you a picture of a lion, you will say 'ingonyama' and 'ukukhala' (roar). Let’s do this together as a class.
For your independent work, I want you to draw your favorite animal and write its name in isiZulu. Then, next to the name, write the sound it makes. Once you finish, you can share your drawing with a partner and tell them about your animal.
