Today, we will learn about different animals in isiZulu. Animals are all around us, and they come in various shapes and sizes. We will focus on common animals such as 'inja' (dog), 'ikati' (cat), 'ibhubesi' (lion), 'ingulube' (pig), and 'inyoni' (bird). Each animal has a unique sound and a special place where it lives.
Let’s practice the sounds that animals make. For example, the dog says 'bark' which is 'phika' in isiZulu. The cat says 'meow' which is 'mew' in isiZulu. The lion roars, which is 'rora'. Can you repeat these sounds after me? Now, let’s match the animals with their sounds on the board.
Now, let’s work together to identify where these animals live. I will show you pictures of each animal, and you will tell me where they live. For instance, where does the 'ibhubesi' live? Yes, it lives in the 'ihlathi' (forest). Let’s do this for all the animals we have learned today. I will ask you questions, and you can raise your hands to answer.
For your independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal that we learned today. After you finish your drawing, write the name of the animal in isiZulu underneath it. You can also write a sentence about where it lives. Once you are done, we will share our drawings with the class.
