One-to-one correspondence means that each object is counted once and only once. For example, if we have 5 blocks, we should say 'one' for the first block, 'two' for the second block, and so on, until we reach 'five' for the last block. This helps us understand that the number we say corresponds to the number of objects we see.

Let's count these blocks together. I have 4 blocks in front of me. I will point to each block as I count. One... (point to the first block), two... (point to the second block), three... (point to the third block), four! (point to the fourth block). Notice how I only counted each block once. This is how we practice one-to-one correspondence.

Now, let's practice counting using our fingers. Hold up your fingers one at a time as I call out numbers. When I say 'one', hold up one finger. When I say 'two', hold up two fingers, and so on until we reach ten. Remember to only hold up the number of fingers that matches the number I say. This will help you practice one-to-one correspondence.

For your independent practice, I will give you a worksheet with pictures of different objects. Count each group of objects and write the number next to them. Make sure to count carefully and ensure that each object is counted only once. This will reinforce your understanding of one-to-one correspondence.
