Now, let’s practice writing this number together.

Let’s count some objects together! I have a basket with 5 apples. Let’s count them one by one. (Hold up each apple as you count). One, two, three, four, five! We have 5 apples. Now, if I take away 2 apples, how many do we have left? Let’s count again. One, two, three! We have 3 apples left. This shows us how we can add and subtract using counting.

Now, let’s work together in groups. Each group will receive a set of objects, like blocks or buttons. Your task is to count how many objects you have in your group. Once you have counted them, write the number down on your paper. After that, we will share our counts with the class. Remember to help each other and check your counts!

For independent practice, you will play a number matching game. You will receive cards with numbers on them and cards with pictures of objects. Your job is to match the number card with the correct picture card. For example, if you have the number 4, you should find the card with 4 stars. This will help you practice recognizing numbers and counting objects!
