Today, we will learn about numbers! Numbers are symbols that represent quantities. For example, the number '1' means one item, and '2' means two items. We will focus on the numbers from 1 to 10. Let's look at some examples: if I have one apple, I can say I have '1 apple'. If I have two apples, I can say '2 apples'.
Letβs count some objects together! I have a basket with 5 balls. Let's count them one by one: 1 ball, 2 balls, 3 balls, 4 balls, and 5 balls. Now, how many balls do we have? Yes, we have 5 balls! Remember, counting means saying the numbers in order as we point to each object.
Now, letβs do a counting activity as a class. I will place different objects on the table, such as blocks and toys. I will ask you to count them out loud with me. For example, if I place 3 blocks on the table, we will count together: 1, 2, 3. After counting, I will ask you how many blocks there are, and you will respond with the correct number.
For your independent practice, I want you to take a worksheet with pictures of objects. You will count the objects in each box and write the correct number next to it. For example, if there are 4 stars, you will write '4' next to the stars. Remember to count carefully and write the numbers neatly!
