Kindness means being friendly, generous, and considerate to others. In many religions, kindness is an important value. For example, in Christianity, it is taught to love your neighbor as yourself. In Buddhism, showing compassion to all living beings is emphasized. Today, we will learn how different religions teach us to be kind.
Let’s look at a story from the Bible about the Good Samaritan. In this story, a Samaritan helps a man who has been hurt, even though others passed by. This shows us that kindness means helping others, no matter who they are. Another example is from Hinduism, where the story of King Harishchandra teaches us to be honest and kind, even in difficult times.
Now, let’s talk about some kind acts we can do. Can anyone think of a time when they were kind to someone? Maybe you shared your toys or helped a friend. Let’s share our stories and think about how these acts of kindness make us feel. We can also think about how we can be kind to others in our school and community.
For our independent practice, I want each of you to think of one kind act you can do this week. It could be helping a family member, sharing with a friend, or saying something nice to someone. Write or draw your kind act on a piece of paper and we will share them at the end of the week.
