Today, we will learn about different animals and how to say their names in Sepedi. Animals are all around us, and knowing their names helps us talk about them. We will focus on common animals like 'ntja' (dog), 'kat' (cat), 'kgoši' (lion), 'nku' (sheep), and 'pudi' (pig). Let's listen to the sounds they make and practice saying their names together.
Let's look at some pictures of animals. I will show you a picture of a 'ntja' (dog). What sound does a dog make? Yes, it barks! Now, let's say the word together: 'ntja'. Repeat after me. Great! Now, let’s try with another animal, the 'kat' (cat). What sound does a cat make? Correct, it meows! Let's say 'kat' together.
I will play some animal sounds, and you will guess which animal it is in Sepedi. For example, if I play a barking sound, you will say 'ntja'. If I play a meowing sound, you will say 'kat'. Let’s play together! Remember to raise your hand when you know the answer.
Now it’s your turn! I want you to draw your favorite animal and write its name in Sepedi next to it. For example, if you draw a 'pudi' (pig), write 'pudi' on your paper. Once you finish, you can share your drawing with the class and tell us what animal it is in Sepedi.
