Today, we will learn about different animals in siSwati. Animals are an important part of our lives and culture. We will focus on names of common animals such as 'inja' (dog), 'kati' (cat), 'phoyisa' (cow), 'ngwenya' (crocodile), and 'imvubu' (hippo). Let’s listen to the sounds these animals make and learn their names in siSwati.

Let’s look at some pictures of animals. For example, when I show you a picture of a dog, I will say 'inja'. Repeat after me: 'inja'. Now, let’s listen to the sound a dog makes. What sound does a dog make? Yes, it barks! So, in siSwati, we can say, 'Inja iyabhuqa' (The dog barks).

Now, I will show you a series of animal pictures, and I want you to tell me the siSwati name for each animal. For example, I will show you a cat, and you will say 'kati'. After that, we will play a game where I make the sound of an animal, and you will raise your hand to tell me the animal's name in siSwati. This will help you remember the names and sounds.

For your independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal and write its name in siSwati underneath. You can use the words we learned today. Once you finish, we will share our drawings with the class, and you will tell us the animal's name in siSwati. This will help you practice speaking and writing in siSwati.
