Today, we will learn about different animals in siSwati. Animals are living creatures that can be found in our environment. We will focus on common animals like 'inja' (dog), 'kati' (cat), 'ngwenya' (crocodile), 'phofu' (sheep), and 'imvubu' (hippo). Each animal has a unique sound and characteristic that makes it special.

Let’s look at the sounds animals make. For example, the 'inja' (dog) says 'bark', and in siSwati, we say 'inja iyabhuqa'. The 'kati' (cat) says 'meow', which we express as 'kati iyameow'. We will practice these sounds together as a class.

I will show you pictures of animals, and you will tell me their names in siSwati. For example, if I show you a picture of a 'ngwenya' (crocodile), you will say 'ngwenya'. After that, we will match the animals with their sounds. I will say the sound, and you will point to the correct animal on the board.

Now, it’s your turn! Draw your favorite animal and write its name in siSwati underneath. You can also write one sentence about what sound it makes. For example, if you draw a 'phofu' (sheep), you can write 'phofu iyabhuqa'. Once you finish, we will share our drawings with the class.
