Today, we will learn about different animals and how to say their names in siSwati. Animals are important in our lives, and knowing their names helps us talk about them. We will focus on common animals like 'inja' (dog), 'kati' (cat), 'ngwenya' (crocodile), 'phoyisa' (elephant), and 'ngulube' (pig).

Let’s listen to the sounds that some animals make. For example, a dog says 'bark' which is 'phuma' in siSwati. When I say 'inja', can you make the sound of a dog? Great! Now, let’s try with a cat. The cat says 'meow', which is 'phuma' for 'kati'. Can you all say 'kati' and make the cat sound?

Now, we will play a matching game. I will show you pictures of animals, and you will tell me their names in siSwati. For example, if I show you a picture of a dog, you will say 'inja'. Let’s do this together! I will hold up a picture, and you will respond with the correct siSwati name. Remember to make the animal sound too!

For your independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal and write its name in siSwati below the drawing. You can choose any animal we discussed today. Once you finish, we will share our drawings with the class and say the names together. This will help us remember the names and sounds of the animals.
