Today, we will learn about different animals in Tshivenda. Animals are important in our lives and can be found in many places. We will focus on common animals such as 'ndou' (elephant), 'mbwa' (dog), 'kuku' (chicken), 'ngwedi' (cat), and 'tshefu' (sheep). I will show you pictures of these animals and we will practice saying their names together.
Let's look at a picture of a 'ndou'. Can anyone tell me what this animal is called in Tshivenda? Yes, it is 'ndou'. Now, let's describe it. An elephant is big and has a long trunk. Repeat after me: 'ndou' is big and has a long trunk. We will do this for each animal, practicing their names and some characteristics.
Now, we will play a game called Animal Charades. I will divide you into small groups. Each group will choose an animal we learned today and act it out without using words. The other groups will guess which animal it is in Tshivenda. This will help us remember the names and characteristics of the animals while having fun!
For our independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal from the ones we learned today. Once you finish your drawing, write a sentence about your animal in Tshivenda. For example, if you draw a 'mbwa', you can write 'mbwa ndi muthu' (the dog is friendly). I will come around to help you with your sentences.
