Today, we will learn about different animals in Tshivenda. Animals are all around us, and knowing their names in our language helps us connect with our culture. We will look at pictures of animals and learn how to say their names in Tshivenda. For example, 'ndovu' means elephant, and 'mbwa' means dog. Let’s start by looking at some pictures and repeating the names together!
Let’s practice identifying animals. I will show you a picture of a lion. Can anyone tell me what a lion is called in Tshivenda? That’s right! It’s 'ngwedi'. Now, let’s look at another picture. This one is a cat. In Tshivenda, we say 'khosi'. Let’s repeat these words together to remember them!
Now, let’s have some fun with animal sounds! I will make the sound of an animal, and you will guess which animal it is. For example, if I say 'roar', you should shout 'ngwedi'! After that, we will act out the animals. If I say 'mbwa', you can pretend to bark like a dog. This will help us remember the names and sounds of the animals in Tshivenda.
For our independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal and write its name in Tshivenda. You can use the words we learned today. After you finish your drawing, we will have a sharing session where you can show your artwork and tell us the name of your animal in Tshivenda. This will help you practice speaking and using the vocabulary we learned.
