Today, we will learn about different animals in Tshivenda. Animals are important in our lives and can be found in our homes, farms, and the wild. We will focus on naming some common animals and using them in sentences. For example, 'Ndi tshiṱuku' means 'I see a dog' in Tshivenda. Let's start by looking at some pictures of animals.

Let's look at a picture of a cat. In Tshivenda, we say 'Ndi nwana'. Now, if I ask you, 'Ndi nwana?' you can respond with 'Ndi nwana' if you see a cat. We can also describe the cat by saying, 'Nwana u khou vhalela' which means 'The cat is sleeping'. This way, we learn both the name and how to describe the animal.

Now, let's play a game! I will show you pictures of different animals, and you will make the sound that each animal makes. After making the sound, we will say the name of the animal in Tshivenda together. For example, if I show you a cow, you will say 'Musi' and then we will all say 'Musi' together. This will help us remember the names and sounds of the animals.

For your independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal. Once you finish your drawing, write a simple sentence about your animal in Tshivenda. For example, if you draw a dog, you can write 'Ndi tshiṱuku'. When you are done, we will share our drawings and sentences with the class.
