Today, we will learn about different animals in Tshivenda. Animals are living creatures that can be found in various environments. Some animals are pets, while others live in the wild. We will focus on common animals such as 'mbwa' (dog), 'khou' (cat), 'ndou' (elephant), 'ngwedi' (moon), and 'tshedza' (bird). Let's explore their names and sounds together!

Let’s practice the sounds that animals make. For example, the dog says 'bark' which is 'mbwa' in Tshivenda. The cat says 'meow', which is 'khou'. The elephant makes a trumpet sound, and we can say 'ndou' when we refer to it. I will say the name of an animal, and you will repeat after me while mimicking the sound it makes.

Now, we will play a matching game. I will show you pictures of different animals, and you will match them with their names in Tshivenda. For example, if I show you a picture of a dog, you will find the word 'mbwa' and place it next to the picture. This will help you remember the names of the animals better.

For your independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal and write its name in Tshivenda underneath. You can also write a sentence about what sound it makes. Once you finish, we will share our drawings with the class and talk about our favorite animals.
