Today, we will learn some new words in Tshivenda. We will focus on words that describe family members and animals. For example, 'mama' means mother, 'baba' means father, 'ngwedi' means moon, and 'mbwa' means dog. We will practice saying these words together and learn how to use them in sentences.
Let’s look at how to make sentences with our new words. For instance, if we want to say 'My mother is beautiful' in Tshivenda, we say 'Mamaanga o na vhudi.' We can also say 'My dog is big' which translates to 'Mbwa yangu i khulu.' Let’s practice these sentences together and make sure we pronounce them correctly.
Now, I will give you some words, and I want you to help me create sentences. If I say 'baba' (father), how can we use it in a sentence? You might say 'Babaanga o na vhudi' (My father is beautiful). Let’s do this with a few more words. I will call out a word, and you will respond with a sentence using that word.
For your independent practice, I want you to draw a picture of your family or your favorite animal. Underneath your drawing, write a sentence in Tshivenda about your drawing. For example, if you draw your mother, you could write 'Mamaanga' or 'Mamaanga o na vhudi.' This will help you practice both your writing and your vocabulary.
