Today, we will learn about different animals and the sounds they make. Animals are an important part of our world, and knowing their names in Xitsonga helps us understand our environment better. We will look at pictures of animals and listen to the sounds they produce. For example, a dog is called 'nku' in Xitsonga and it barks. Let's start by looking at some pictures of animals.

Let's take a look at some animals together. I will show you a picture of a cow. In Xitsonga, we say 'ngwena' for cow, and it makes a sound like 'moo'. Now, let’s look at a cat. In Xitsonga, we say 'kati', and it says 'meow'. Can anyone tell me what sound a lion makes? Yes, it roars! In Xitsonga, we call a lion 'ngwena'.

Now, let’s work together! I will show you a series of animal pictures, and I want you to tell me the name of the animal in Xitsonga and the sound it makes. For example, if I show you a picture of a sheep, you will say 'ngwena' and 'baa'. After we go through a few animals, we will make the sounds together as a class. This will help us remember the names and sounds better.

For your independent practice, I want each of you to draw your favorite animal. Once you finish your drawing, write the name of the animal in Xitsonga and the sound it makes.
