Today, we will learn about different animals and the sounds they make. Animals are living creatures that can be found in many places, such as farms, forests, and even in our homes. In Xitsonga, we have special names for these animals. For example, a dog is called 'ndhuna' and a cat is 'kati'. Let's listen to the sounds they make and learn their names together!
Let's look at some common animals and their sounds. When we say 'ndhuna', we can also say that it makes a 'bark' sound. Similarly, 'kati' makes a 'meow' sound. I will show you pictures of these animals, and we will practice saying their names and the sounds they make. For instance, if I show you a picture of a cow, you will say 'ngwena' and then we will all say 'moo' together!
Now, let's play a game! I will show you a picture of an animal, and you will raise your hand to tell me its name in Xitsonga. After that, we will all make the sound that animal makes. For example, if I show you a picture of a chicken, you will say 'nkuku' and then we will all cluck like a chicken together! This will help us remember the names and sounds of the animals.
For your independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal. After you finish your drawing, write its name in Xitsonga below the picture. You can also write the sound it makes. Once you are done, we will have a sharing session where you can show your drawing to the class and tell us about your animal.
