Today, we will learn about different animals in Xitsonga. Animals are important in our lives, and knowing their names in our language helps us communicate better. We will focus on common animals such as 'ngwedi' (cat), 'mbilu' (dog), 'nku' (cow), 'xihlahla' (bird), and 'xihlahla' (elephant). Let's start by repeating the names together!
I will show you pictures of different animals. When I show you a picture of a 'mbilu' (dog), I want you to say 'mbilu' out loud. Let's practice with the following images: a cat, a dog, a cow, a bird, and an elephant. Each time, we will say the name in Xitsonga together.
Now, let's have some fun! I will make the sound of an animal, and you will guess which animal it is in Xitsonga. For example, if I bark like a dog, you will say 'mbilu'. After that, we will mimic the movements of the animals. Can you jump like a frog or walk like a cow? Let's do it together!
For our independent practice, I want you to draw your favorite animal and write its name in Xitsonga below the picture. You can choose from the animals we learned today. Once you finish, we will share our drawings with the class and say the names in Xitsonga.
