Today, we will learn about different animals and the sounds they make. Animals are living creatures that can be found in various places such as forests, farms, and oceans. In Xitsonga, we have special names for these animals. For example, 'ngwedi' means 'lion' and 'xihlahla' means 'tree'. We will also learn how to say the sounds these animals make, like 'roar' for lions and 'moo' for cows.

Let’s look at some examples together. The lion is called 'ngwedi' in Xitsonga, and it makes a loud 'roar'. The cow is called 'ngweti', and it says 'moo'. We can practice saying these names and sounds together. For instance, when I say 'ngwedi', you will respond with 'roar'. Let’s try it a few times!

Now, let’s work in groups. Each group will choose an animal and prepare to share its name and sound with the class. For example, if your group chooses 'ngwedi', you will say 'ngwedi' and then everyone will roar together. This will help us remember the names and sounds of different animals. After each group presents, we will discuss where these animals live.

For your independent practice, you will draw your favorite animal and write its name in Xitsonga. Below your drawing, write the sound it makes. For example, if you draw a dog, you will write 'nku' and 'woof'. Once you finish, we will have a gallery walk where you can show your drawings to your classmates.
