Begin the lesson by explaining what phonics is and why it is important for reading and writing. Use simple language to describe how sounds are connected to letters. For example, the letter 'b' makes the sound /b/. Show the learners how to blend sounds together to form words, such as 'b' + 'a' + 't' = 'bat'.

Demonstrate how to build words using phonics. Write the letters 'm', 'a', and 't' on the board. Ask the learners to sound out each letter and then blend them together to form the word 'mat'. Next, change one letter to create a new word, such as changing 'm' to 'c' to make 'cat'. Discuss the new word and its meaning.

Divide the class into small groups and give each group a set of letter cards. Ask them to create as many words as they can using the letters provided. After 10 minutes, have each group share their words with the class. Encourage them to use the words in sentences, ensuring they use correct punctuation and spacing.

Provide each learner with a worksheet that has a list of words they have learned. Ask them to choose three words and write a sentence for each. Remind them to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and punctuation at the end. After they finish, have them read their sentences aloud to a partner.
