Punctuation marks are symbols that help us understand sentences better. They tell us when to stop, pause, or ask a question. For example, a period (.) shows the end of a sentence, while a question mark (?) indicates a question. Today, we will learn how to use these marks correctly in our writing.
Let's look at the sentence: 'the cat is sleeping' without punctuation. We can make it clearer by adding a period at the end: 'The cat is sleeping.' Notice how we also capitalized the first letter. Now, let's try another one: 'where is my toy' can be changed to 'Where is my toy?' to show it's a question.
In groups, students will receive a short paragraph with missing punctuation. They will read the paragraph aloud and discuss where punctuation marks should be added. After discussing, each group will present their corrected version to the class, explaining their choices.
