Notice the capital letter at the beginning and the period at the end. Now, let's create a sentence together. What can we say about a dog? (Students might respond with 'The dog is barking.') Great! Remember to use a capital letter and a period.

I will read a short story about a little bird. Listen carefully and think about what the bird does in the story. After I finish reading, I will ask you some questions. Remember to raise your hand if you want to answer. Here we go! (Read the story aloud.) Now, what did the bird do first? (Encourage students to respond.)

Now it's your turn to create sentences! Think of your favorite animal and write a sentence about it. Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a period.
