Today, we will explore a short story together. Shared reading is when we read a text as a group, and everyone gets to participate. We will look at the title and pictures first to make predictions about what the story might be about. Predictions help us think about the story before we read it.

Let’s look at the title of our story: 'The Lost Puppy'. What do you think this story will be about? (Allow students to share their ideas.) Now, let’s look at the picture on the cover. What do you see? (Encourage students to describe the image.) Based on the title and the picture, I predict that the story is about a puppy that gets lost and tries to find its way home.

Now, we will read 'The Lost Puppy' together. As we read, I want you to listen carefully and think about whether your predictions were correct. After each page, we will pause and discuss what we think will happen next. This will help us practice our listening and speaking skills.

After we finish the story, I want you to write a sentence about your favorite part of the story. Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. You can also draw a picture to go with your sentence. Once you are done, we will share our sentences with the class.
