We will learn how to write short sentences and use punctuation marks like periods, question marks, and exclamation marks. Let's think about our favorite stories and how they make us feel. What do we love about them? This will help us create our own unique stories!

Let's create a sentence together! I will start with a simple idea: 'The cat is.' Now, let's add more to it. What can the cat do? How about 'The cat is sleeping'? Great! Now, let's add punctuation. We will end our sentence with a period because it is a statement. So, our complete sentence is 'The cat is sleeping.' Remember, every sentence needs a capital letter at the beginning and a punctuation mark at the end.

Now it's your turn! I will give you a picture of a dog. Look at the picture and think about what the dog is doing. In pairs, discuss what you see. Then, write a sentence about the dog. Remember to start with a capital letter and end with the correct punctuation. After you write your sentence, we will share them with the class. This will help us learn from each other!

For your independent practice, I want you to think of your favorite animal. Write a short story about what your animal does in a day. Use at least three sentences and remember to use punctuation.
