(Encourage students to share their ideas). For example, if they see a caterpillar, they might predict that it will eat something or go on an adventure.
Now, we will read the first few pages of 'The Hungry Caterpillar' together. As we read, I want you to raise your hand if you have a prediction about what will happen next. After reading a page, pause and ask, 'What do you think will happen next?' Encourage students to share their thoughts and discuss them as a class.
After our reading, I want you to think about your favorite part of the story. Write one sentence about it. Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. For example, 'The caterpillar ate a lot of food.' Once you finish, draw a picture that shows your favorite part. This will help you practice writing and using punctuation correctly.
