Today, we will explore phonics, which is the relationship between sounds and their written letters. Understanding phonics helps us read and write better. We will focus on the sounds of the letters 's', 'a', 't', 'p', and 'i'. Let’s listen to the sounds these letters make and practice saying them together.

Let’s take the sounds we learned and build some words. For example, if we combine the sounds 's', 'a', and 't', we can create the word 'sat'. Let’s write it on the board. Now, let’s try to make another word using 'p' and 'i'. When we combine these sounds, we get 'pi'. We can also add 'n' to make 'pin'.

Now, let’s work together to create sentences using the words we built. For example, we can say, 'The cat sat.' Let’s write this sentence on the board. I will ask you to help me add punctuation. What do we need at the end of our sentence? Yes, a full stop! Let’s practice making more sentences together, like 'I can pin it.'

It’s your turn now! I want you to take your phonics cards and create at least three words using the sounds we practiced. After that, write a sentence for each word you created. Remember to use correct punctuation. Once you finish, share your sentences with a partner and read them aloud.
