For example, when we say 'The cat jumped high!', we can use a happy voice. After reading, we will discuss what the poem is about and how it made us feel.

Now, I will divide you into small groups. Each group will receive a different short story. As a group, read the story aloud, taking turns. Remember to use expression in your voices. After reading, discuss with your group what the story was about and how the characters felt. I will walk around to listen and help if needed.

For independent practice, I want you to write three sentences about your favorite animal. Make sure to use correct punctuation at the end of each sentence. After you finish writing, read your sentences aloud to a partner, using expression to make it interesting. This will help you practice both writing and reading fluently.
