Guided reading is a teaching approach where the teacher supports students in reading a text. Today, we will read a short story together. I will ask questions to help you think about what you read. Remember, it’s important to listen carefully and share your thoughts.

Let’s read the story 'The Lost Cat'. As we read, I will pause to ask questions. For example, after the first paragraph, I might ask, 'What happened to the cat?' This helps us understand the story better. I will also show you how to identify the main idea and important details.

After reading the story, we will have a group discussion. I will ask questions like, 'How did the cat feel when it was lost?' and 'What did the owner do to find the cat?' Everyone will get a chance to share their ideas. This will help us practice speaking and listening.

Now it’s your turn to write! Think about the story we read. Write three sentences about what happened. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and a full stop at the end. After you finish, I will come around to help you check your work.
