Today, we will learn how to write our own sentences and use punctuation correctly.
Let's look at some examples together. If I say, 'The cat is sleeping,' this is a simple sentence. Notice how it starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. Now, if I ask, 'Is the cat awake?', this is a question and ends with a question mark. Lastly, 'Wow, what a big cat!' shows excitement and ends with an exclamation mark. Each sentence has a different purpose and punctuation.
Now, let's create sentences as a class. I will say a word, and you will help me form a sentence. For example, if I say 'dog', you might say, 'The dog is barking.' Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. We will write these sentences on the board together, and I will check the punctuation with you.
