Let’s look at the first page of our story, which shows a picture of a boy looking at a big tree. What do you think he might do next? Will he climb the tree, or will he sit under it? Let’s discuss our ideas. This helps us to think about the story and what might happen as we read further.

Now, I will read the next part of the story aloud. As I read, I want you to raise your hand if you have a prediction about what will happen next. After I finish reading, we will share our predictions and see if they match what happens in the story. Remember to listen carefully and think about the clues in the text and pictures.

After our shared reading, I want you to write three sentences about what you think will happen next in the story. Use correct punctuation at the end of each sentence. Remember to leave spaces between your words. Once you finish, we will share our sentences with a partner and discuss our predictions.
