Let’s look at a simple story together: 'UThandi uyathanda izinkanyezi. Uhlola izinkanyezi ebusuku. Uthanda ukubona izinkanyezi ezikhanyayo.' Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. This helps the reader understand where one thought ends and another begins.
Now, let’s create our own sentences! I will give you a picture of a cat. Can anyone tell me something about the cat? (Encourage responses.) Great! Let’s write a sentence together. For example, 'Le nkunzi ibukeka ijabulile.' Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. Let’s write it on the board together.
Now it’s your turn! I want you to think of your favorite animal. Write a short story about what your animal does during the day. Use at least three sentences. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and full stops at the end. After you finish, we will share our stories with the class!
