Today, we will dive into the world of creative writing! Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in fun and imaginative ways. We will start by discussing what creative writing is and how we can use our imagination to tell stories. I will share a short story with you, and we will talk about the characters, setting, and what happens in the story.

Let’s look at how to build a sentence. For example, if I say, 'The cat is sleeping,' we can identify the subject (the cat) and the action (is sleeping). Now, let’s add some details: 'The fluffy cat is sleeping on the warm mat.' Notice how we added adjectives to make the sentence more interesting! Let’s practice together by creating a sentence about a dog.

Now it’s your turn! I will give you a picture of a scene, and I want you to think about what story could happen there. We will work together to come up with a beginning, middle, and end for our story. After we brainstorm, each of you will write one sentence about what happens in your story. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning and punctuation at the end!

For your independent practice, I want you to write your own short story. You can choose any topic you like! Make sure to include at least three sentences. Use proper punctuation and spacing. Once you finish writing, draw a picture that goes along with your story. We will share our stories with the class at the end of the lesson.
