Let’s create a short story together! I will start with a sentence: 'Once upon a time, there was a little bird who loved to sing.' Now, I will ask you to add a sentence. For example, you might say, 'The bird lived in a big tree.' We will continue to build our story together, making sure to use proper punctuation at the end of each sentence. Remember to listen carefully and think creatively!

Now it’s your turn! I will give you some words, and you will work with a partner to create sentences. The words are: 'cat', 'jump', 'high'. Think about how you can use these words to make a fun sentence. Once you have your sentence, write it down on your paper. Don’t forget to use a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end!

For your independent practice, I want you to write your own short story. You can choose any topic you like! Think about your favorite animal, a fun day you had, or a magical place. Write at least three sentences. Make sure to use correct punctuation and spacing. After you finish writing, draw a picture that goes with your story. We will share our stories with the class at the end of the lesson!
