Reading fluency is the ability to read smoothly and expressively. Today, we will practice reading a short isiXhosa story together. I will read it first, and then we will read it as a class. Pay attention to how I use my voice to show feelings and meaning in the words.

Let's read the story 'Uthando Lwethu' together. As I read, listen for the different emotions in the characters' voices. After reading, we will discuss what the story is about and how the characters might feel. For example, when the character is happy, I will read with a cheerful tone.
